As a kid growing up in Los Angeles there were a few staples in your life. One was going to Travel Town and Griffith Observatory, the other was Dodger Stadium.
I will never forget going to the stadium on “bat day” and getting little Dodger Bats…me and my brothers used to beat the crap out of each other with those things! Something else I would never forget is meeting Mr. Tommy Lasorda at the tender young age of 5. Fast forward 29 years and I had the opportunity to shoot a quick picture with him and shake his hand. My assignment was to capture some of the Dodgers Spring Training here in Arizona and while finishing up my last few shots, Mr. Lasorda walked by. Working in the business that I do, I meet all types of “famous” people, but I almost never ask for pictures or autographs. It’s a little unprofessional, but my chances of ever shaking Tommy’s hand again were probably slim.
I danced around like a school girl for a minute trying to decide if I should do it or not…I was urged by my Camera Assistant to go ahead and do it. I am glad I did.
